The educational landscape is evolving at rapid speeds, and it can be overwhelming. However, it's important to take a deep breath and know that being a master teacher in these times is not as important as being a master learner. In the 21st century, it's about the journey...not the destination. Twitter is a tool that allows teachers to be in charge of their professional development.
#CowetaEdChat serves as a platform to dive into professional learning at a pace that is good for you, and learn from your fellow colleagues across the district. #CowetaEdChat is a hashtag on Twitter for all educators within Coweta county in Georgia, USA. The # (hashtag) allows for all tweets to be grouped together. For example, if a teacher wants to share a great article on classroom management, he or she could add the #cowetaedchat at the end of the tweet. Then, another teacher who follows the hashtag could read the same article. This allows others to learn from you within the county and the twitter community. The bi-weekly scheduled chats on Sundays at 8 pm are a time for us all to come together and learn around a certain topic. There is a guest host for each chat who facilitates and leads the discussion. The chat may be on an educational book, educational topic, or inquiry. Hosts can be teachers, administrators. authors, or speakers. There are usually 7 or 8 questions posed around the topic.
